DESCRIPTION
Three awards of $1,000 each will be given to fellows who have submitted abstracts chosen to be presented during Digestive Disease Week® (DDW). Prize recipients will be acknowledged at the NIH/PhD/Investigators Research Symposium during DDW.
OBJECTIVE
The overall objective of this award is to stimulate interest in GI research careers through competition and recognition.
ELIGIBILITY
- Candidates for this award must be an MD gastroenterology fellow or PhD postdoctoral fellow.
- The applicant and the sponsor must be AGA members at the time of application submission. For information about AGA membership, please call 301-654-2055, extension 651 or visit www.gastro.org
- Applicants must be the first author of an abstract accepted for presentation at DDW and provide evidence of abstract acceptance. Individuals with faculty appointments are not eligible.
- Applicants may only submit one abstract for consideration.
REQUIREMENTS
- The award recipient must present the abstract. No exceptions are allowed.
- Abstracts must have been selected by the AGA for presentation at DDW.
- The applicant is expected to have a faculty sponsor, who is typically the mentor for the project.
- A letter of recommendation from the sponsor is required.
- Recipients and their sponsor will be expected to be present at the NIH/PhD/Investigators Research Symposium during DDW where they will be recognized.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Awardees will be selected based on novelty; significance of the proposal; clarity of the abstract; and contribution of the applicant.
REVIEW PROCESS
A selection committee composed of members of the AGA Research Awards Panel will review the proposals and select award recipients.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The deadline for receipt of applications is March 11. The typed application, curriculum vitae, copies of the accepted DDW abstract and AGA acceptance notification, and letter of support must be combined into and submitted as one PDF file. The file must be titled by the applicant's last name and first initial only. Hard copies will not be accepted. Please email the application document to awards@fdhn.org.
